They say, desperate times call for desperate measures. When a medical diagnosis of cancer is announced, it is often described as in one of four stages. Depending on the stage, the treatments will be more radical. Judging from the directives God gave Israel when they entered the Promised Land, a spiritual cancer of stage-four variety was present. What did God require of his people then? What does God require of us today when confronted by rival gods?
