Luke 1:46-56

Songs are an important part of our Advent celebration.  Whether traditional carols or Handel's Messiah, songs help us relive the meaning and excitement of Advent.  In Luke's Gospel, there are several 'songs' which were sung around the time of Jesus' birth.

In Mary's song, Jesus' young mother lifts her voice in awe of the Lord's willingness to use her in his saving plan.  With remarkable vision, she describes the big picture of what was really happening in Jesus' arrival - events were being set in motion which would change everything.  And it started with an average Israelite woman with an above-average yielded-ness to her God.  What accounts for Mary's congeniality toward God?  How might we imitate her godly stance?
